I got something to tell you,
I got something to say.
I’m gonna put this dream in motion,
Never let nothing stand in my way.
When the garden needs turf.
The turf gets growing.
In the words (almost) of the great Billy Ocean (and we reckon you’ll be humming that now all day). Garden Turf is Back!!
Last year was a pain in the grass. We were unable to sell garden turf as our local supplier closed due to Covid. No turf. It made us so sad, you could say we were looking forlorn! Happily – our first Spring delivery is due Friday 26th of March. Due to huge demand we are asking customers to pre-order each week ahead of the delivery so we Will guarantee stock each week. We Will then have a fresh delivery every Friday early morning for the next 8 to 10 weeks.
You can order in store and prepay for collection on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The order deadline is 3pm Wednesday.
You can also order online for local delivery. HERE.
Any questions or mowtivation required just give us a call.
Will I am going to share the secrets of success for a stunning lawn:
– Scarify the lawn to help remove the build up of thatch layers in the lawn, including Winter debris, dead grass and moss. A good strong wire lawn rake will conquerer this job.
– With a wet Autumn and Winter you may need to aerate your lawn to relieve compaction and let air circulate around the lawn root system. Aeration will also help if you have lawn drainage issues. This can be achieved with a lawn aerator tool or with a garden fork, (or a shake spear?) fill the holes with sharp sand to aid drainage and aeration.
– Remove any large weeds either by hand using a special weed removal tool or Billy whizz around with a specific lawn weedkiller.
– Feed your lawn with Evergreen Complete granular lawn feed, weed and mosskiller. It’s so words worth it. It will kill bill the weeds and moss and feed the grass to increase strength, vigour and will young health.
– Re-seed any bare patches using Miracle Gro grass seed or for an instant job fill the patches with fresh garden turf to complete the look.
– Don’t cut the grass too low too early – we Billy the Kid you not – late hard frost may damage the new growth.
We are now fully stocked with all lawn care products and with some Spring sunshine the grass is beginning to grow. Now is the perfect to time to give your lawn a makeover so you can relax and enjoy your outdoor ‘green carpet.’ Get it right and it Will be fit for a Prince (William, perhaps?)
So from Billy Ocean to across the pond. The New York Times have reported this week how gardening – and a particular popular TV program ‘saved the brits’ with gardening helping mental wellbeing during the pandemic last year. This evening sees the return of that program: Gardeners World on BBC2 at 9pm, which is a great start to, with what promises to be, a great weekend.
What’s with all the Williams? How many can you spot? Well it’s quite simple. At Whilton Locks Garden Village, with our fantastic deals and super prices, there’s never any other big Bills!
Happy Gardening
